Abstract

This work presents a novel MIMO slot antenna array with enhanced isolation. Two wideband decoupling structures consisting of modified electromagnetic band gap (M-EBG) structures and rake-shaped slots are employed to achieve isolation improvement of up to 40 dB throughout the impedance wide bandwidth of the antenna (i.e., 4.4-6.3 GHz). The radiation patterns of the antenna are observed to be consistent after the isolation enhancement. Thus, this wideband MIMO antenna with an impedance bandwidth of 36% is suitable for miniature wireless handheld devices.
