Abstract

Experimental results are reported for the continuous evaporation of saline water under enhanced solar energy input. A multipurpose solar desalination unit (MPSDU) has been introduced and tested. A dynamic flow of saline water introduced to the multi-channel evaporator is heated up to 60°C. Soluble mineral salts are selectively separated along the channels in addition to distilled water. The salts include NaCl, MgCl2 and others.
