Abstract

Shear thickening electrolytes and magneto-rheological electrolytes can reversibly switch between liquid and semisolid or even solid phases at specific conditions. They afford the advantages of both liquid and solid electrolytes and have the potential to enhance impact resistance of electronic devices. This review presents the recent progress of such electrolytes. It aims to provide insights into the properties and performance. We also present the challenges in producing high-performance electrolytes and the future perspectives.
