Abstract
In this article, MnO2 and carbon based composite nanomaterials are synthesized and characterized for asymmetrical supercapacitor electrodes. Individual and composite materials were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD). XRD, SEM and FTIR confirmed the structure, surface morphology and functional bonds present, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry confirmed the active redox reaction and specific values of anodic and cathodic currents. Carbon based MnO2 composites produced a high specific capacitance of 143 F/g at 0.3 A/g with a specific power of 70 W/kg and EIS successfully confirmed the capacitive behavior of composite materials. The findings of the current research endeavor hold significant implications for the advancement of high-performance supercapacitor devices.
