Efficient image compression for cloud system

Abstract

There has been an increasing demand to store a large quantity of images generated in social media, eHealth, and other popular domains. Due to the rapid uses of digital images, an efficient and faster compression technique is needed for any cloud-based applications. This paper introduces and describes an idea of compressing images using a distributed system to reduce the storage requirement of data (with images). The proposed strategy can provide storage efficiency with an easier way to compress and reconstruct the image in future when needed.
