Abstract

Experimental data on the effect of the gas phase density on flow patterns and frictional pressure drop in two component vertical flow is presented. The data are used to test some existing models and correlations with regard to their validity and generality. From the results a flow pattern map was plotted and compared with published maps. A transition model proposed by Taitel was tested. The homogenous flow model, the Lockhard-Martinelli and Chisholm pressure drop correlations were also tested against the present data.
