Abstract
This article briefly describes the investigations undertaken to determine the effect of iron addition on the corrosion behavior of copper-aluminum alloys containing chromium and manganese additions. Manganese addition (0. 8%) to Cu-Al 6. 8 does not cause any adverse effect on the corrosion resistance. The corrosion rate of Cu-Al 6. 8 Mn 0. 8, Cr 0. 3 is not appreciably affected by smaller Fe additions (1%), however, a 2% Fe addition causes a serious loss of corrosion resistance in HCl, H//2SO//4, and NaCl.
