Abstract

In order to clarify the effect of corrosion cover on the measurements taken on concrete surfaces for the corosion monitoring of steel in concrete, a new fundamental experimental method is proposed. According to the test results by the method, the inner potential difference is confirmed to affect the measurements. Moreover, an equivalent electric circuit composed of electrochemical characteristics of both concrete and steel is also proposed for the interpretation of the measurements taken on concrete surfaces.
