Abstract

The 5D3 - 5D4 cross-relaxation and de-excitation of the 5D4 level of Tb3+ in β-NaYF4 has been investigated by analysis of the 5D3 and 5D4 decay curves as a function of Tb3+ concentration. It is worth noticing that both aforementioned mechanisms are predominantly dipole-dipole in character (R0 ∼ 2.4 nm and R0 ∼ 3 nm respectively).
