Abstract
The present review addresses itself specifically to the task of cleaning the flue gas (from a fluidized bed combustor system) which is to be utilized to drive a gas turbine system and hence to generate electricity. These particulate bearing gases, which are at high temperatures (upto ca.2000 DEGREE F or 1100 DEGREE C) and at high pressures (upto about 10 atm or 1 MPa), can cause considerable corrosion and erosion problems if the particulate loading is not reduced to a low level (1 mg/m SUP 3 at the turbine inlet). Fibrous and granular bed filters hold great promise of accomplishing the economic cleaning of the pressurized hot flue gases. The state of the art in regard to these types of filters has been critically examined and evaluated in this report. It is recognised that improved versions of cyclones and other conventional separation devices may also help considerably in accomplishing this goal. (from paper)
