Abstract
In this paper, a concentric annular slot based dual-band, low-profile frequency reconfigurable (FR) 2-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna design is presented. FR is achieved using two varactor diodes per antenna element. The unique features of the proposed work is its independent and concurrent tuning of each band over a wide frequency range from 1.73.5 GHz. The proposed antenna is fabricated using RO-4350 substrate with dimensions 60×120×0.76 mm3. The proposed antenna is a low profile, compact planar structure with dual-bands of operation. The proposed antenna is suitable to be utilized in the current 4G wireless standards as well as for the upcoming 5G with sub 6-GHz bands of operation.
