Abstract

The authors of [1] conscientiously contributed to the field of reactive power capability of PV inverters. The proposed reactive power planning model serves as an economic assessment for quantifying the optimal utilization of reactive power support (RPS) from the PV inverters in the process of PV integration into an existing power network. This planning model ensures flexibility of scheduling RPS from different PV inverters as well as adaptive RPS dispatchability from individual inverters along with the progress of PV installation. The model is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem (NLP) that uses multi-period optimal power flow technique for sensitivity and operational analysis.
