Abstract

Researchers presented their views on the study, 'A New Formulation of Distribution Network Reconfiguration for Reducing the Voltage Volatility Induced by Distributed Generation (DG)'. A novel voltage volatility index was outlined and proposed by the authors to analyze the impact of renewable (RE) transient power output on bus voltage. A new optimization algorithm based on Benders decomposition was presented for the regulation of bus voltage and reduction of system network losses through switching of the capacitor banks (CB) and optimized network reconfiguration. The researchers tested the formulated strategy on a modified IEEE 69 bus system by increasing the loads to 1.5 times as compared to the data to create heavy loading conditions with twelve RES-DG placements. The system was tested for static load and generation scenarios.
