Abstract

Dielectric fibers work as low loss waveguides for sub-THz frequencies. We evaluate the potential of a polyethylene fiber with a diameter of 3 mm for different waveguiding applications at frequencies between 70 and 110 GHz. The attenuation is as low as 0.03 dB/cm at 70 GHz. Results of a 3-dB coupler and a 1x4 splitter are shown. Furthermore, the waveguide can also be used as an endoscope.
