Abstract

HAYNES alloy 23 is solid solution and carbide strengthened. It is essentially free of cobalt and resists the formation of intermetallic compounds after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures. Mechanical, oxidation and physical properties of the new alloy were measured. Microstructural features are compared with other solid solution-strengthened superalloys. Fabricability is evaluated.
