Abstract

Adsorbents and nanoadsorbents can be obtained from different sources and synthesized using various methods from different precursors. Nanoadsorbents are synthesized by several procedures based on the nature and types of the nanomaterials. These methods are generally classified as “top-down” and “bottom-up” approaches. In the top-down method, a bulk material can be reduced to a nanoscale material. In the bottom-up method, a nanomaterial is synthesized from atoms or molecules. Polymers and composites as adsorbents are synthesized using chemical approaches and others. Adsorbents and nanoadsorbents can also be obtained using green methods. Addressing these approaches, this chapter discusses different protocols used to obtain adsorbents.
