Abstract

The concentration of trace elements (Cu, Mn, Zn, Fe and Cd) in whole blood and serum samples were determined by GFAAS. Different matrix modifiers were used for each element. Good accuracy was assured by analysis of standard reference materials. Detection limits (DL, μg/l) were Cu: 0.50, Mn: 0.14, Zn: 0.17, Fe: 0.60 and Cd: 0.15 (n = 20, 3s), respectively. The relative standard deviation was less than 6% for all elements.
