Abstract

In this paper, the extension of the design algorithm of explicit depth extrapolation operators using the method of modified Projections onto Convex Sets (modified POCS) for three-dimensional (3-D) seismic data is presented. Designing such true two-dimensional (2-D) operators is difficult to achieve with other finite length operator design techniques. The operators are feasible in the sense that they satisfy all required extrapolation design characteristics. Finally, the 2-D extrapolators design algorithm, using modified POCS for 3-D extrapolation, results in a perfectly circularly symmetrical migration impulse response with a dip angle of 65°.
