Abstract

This paper addresses the types, cost and availability of insulating materials for buildings in Saudi Arabia. It also discusses application and a procedure to choose the types and thickness of insulating materials. It was found that the economic thickness depends on the building material (clay brick, cement blocks, etc.) of the wall and the thermal properties of the insulating material. It is also dependent on the outdoor conditions of the location.
