Abstract

Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) has been used extensively in Variable Speed Constant Frequency (VSCF) technique of wind energy generation systems. For DC-Link voltage regulation we used LM-SMC controller on grid side converter. For LVRT Enhancement hybrid of STFCL and DC-Chopper strategy is used. STFCL has the ability to protect converter from over-current and over-voltage as well as gearbox from over torque. DC-Chopper is an electronic circuitry connected in parallel with DC link capacitor to prevent DC link voltage from increasing. The validity of the proposed approach is further verified by the experimental results on a 1.5MW DFIG prototype and LM-SMC results are analytically compared with conventionally tuned Proportional Integral (PI) control strategy.
