Abstract

This paper aims to explore the integration of Information Security Management (ISM) and Knowledge Management (KM) within the oil and gas industry. The study proposes a theoretical framework that highlights how effective ISM, when synergized with KM strategies, can significantly enhance firm performance. This paper conceptualizes the potential for KM to serve as a moderating factor that amplifies the effectiveness of ISM implementations, thereby improving both information security outcomes and financial performance. The implications of this study extend beyond theoretical enrichment, offering practical guidelines for oil and gas companies aiming to fortify their information security frameworks through integrated ISM and KM. Moreover, it sets a foundation for empirical investigations that can leverage mathematical modelling to explore and validate the complex interactions between these critical management domains. The paper aims to contribute to strategic discussions on information security within high-risk industries, advocating for a comprehensive approach that embraces both information security management and knowledge management, underpinned by rigorous mathematical analysis.
