Abstract

A Ferranti Argus 400 process computer has been used to monitor and control the operation of an experimental heat regenerator system. Identification tests have been made using steps, pulses and P. R. B. S. signals. The input-output records of these tests have been analyzed by means of computer-aided identification packages using a correlation matching method. Searches were performed for different strategies of the control signal to minimize a cost function composed of two terms; one penalizing time and error, the other the magnitude of the control signal during the operation. The results were obtained by computer data logging.
