Abstract
The effect of mobile impurities on the structure, kinetics, and gelation of a colloidal system performing a diffusion-limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCA) was studied. Two types of impurities were considered: aggregating impurities and unreactive monomeric impurities. Aggregate morphology and kinetics were examined as a function of the molar fraction of impurities. Finally, results of this study were compared to those of DLCA of a one-monomer system.
