Abstract

The simultaneous flow of two immiscible fluids through a porous medium is described by the Buckley-Leverett equation. The purpose of this paper is to present an apparently new approach to the solution of the Buckley-Leverett problem. The concept builds on the upstream collocation method developed for the solution of the Buckley-Leverett problem and the adaptive collocation procedure developed for the convective-diffusive transport equation.
