Abstract

The development of a model for co-ordinating the inspections of a group of machines is discussed. The problem is formulated as non-linear integer program. The main objective of the model is to minimize the expected total cost per unit time, which is a function of set-up cost, inspection cost and the cost of failure. A solution procedure is proposed to solve this problem and it is adapted from the joint replenishment inventory problem that shares same structure.
