Abstract
Cinerascenone 1 [7-{(4-hydroxybenzoyl)chrysoeriol}] a new flavonoid along with quercetin and 3'-methylquercetin have been isolated from the methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Vernonia cinerascens. The structures were assigned based on 1H-and 13C-NMR spectra (DEPT). 2D NMR analyses (COSY, HMQC and HMBC experiments) in combination with HRMS experiments and comparison with literature data of related compounds.
