Abstract
The Waste heat is produced in a process by way of fiiel combustion or chemical reaction, which is released into the atmosphere even though it could still be reused for useful and economic purpose. The important feature of heat is not the amount but rather its value. The method of how to recover this heat depends in part on the temperature of the waste heat gases and the economics involved. A large amount of hot flue gases is produce from boilers, kilns, ovens and furnaces. If some part of this waste heat be recovered, a significant amount of primary fuel could be saved. The waste gases energy cannot be fully recovered. Our case study is focuses on energy crises being faced Pakistan now a day's especially industrial zones in Pakistan. With emphasis on the cement Industry which has been proved to be the 2nd revenue generating hub after textile sector of the Pakistan. The main purpose of this work is to study the performance of the WHR technique in detail to be a useful assistant in overcoming the present day energy shortage under different operational conditions and to compare the results for efficiency with predictions by available theoretical models. The study initiates with brief & comprehensive discussion regarding importance of WHR methodology; it's suitability for heavy industries, flow sheets, and design considerations. In the second portion of the paper, case study of a cement plant in Mianwali (Pakistan) has been done with the emphasis on WHR plant parameters & profits in the form of electrical energy. Last portion of the paper present an overview of improvements in current Pakistani cement scenario by using this particular tool.
