Catalysts in petroleum refining & petrochemicals - 13th Annual Saudi-Japanese symposium, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

Various aspects of annual symposium organized by King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) which includes discussion on the latest catalyst developments are discussed. The issues included in discussion includes advance in ultra-deep desulfurization of diesel and gasoline, hydrocracking, fluid catalystic cracking, isomerization, stream reforming, oxidation, dehydrogenation, aromatics and styrene manufacture. The performance of two hydrocracking catalysts systems is evaluated which shows a loss in surface area and pore volume and an increase in coke and metals contents. It is observed that despite the operation at higher cracking temperature, there is reduction in thermal cracking.
