Abstract
Porous electrode loaded Co was synthesized by the pyrolysis of ZIF-8, which is active bifunctional material using solvothermal method in rechargeable zinc-air batteries. Co@NC catalysts were tested to understand the optimum loading of Co. Several characterization including SEM, and TEM images were used to observe the morphological behavior. The optimized Co@NC catalyst is a highly efficient bifunctional electrochemical catalyst with excellent ORR and OER performance, higher than monometallic catalysts. The electrochemical performance were tested under long-term operation of 500 h. The various oxidation states of Co and N-doping demonstrates a significant and rational approach in electrochemical performance.
