Abstract

Halogen free Bronsted acidic ionic liquid N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone hydrogen sulfate has been efficiently used as a catalyst for the transesterification of β-ketoesters with variety of alcohols. The ionic liquid shows high catalytic activity and reusability with good to excellent yields of the desired products.
