Abstract

Biopolymers and sustainable biopolymer-based composites comprise biodegradable and biocompatible materials that can be used in many applications such as in textile, food, and medical industries. These polymers are a combination of bioorigin material that are environmental and human friendly. Application of these polymers is based on their final use in different manufacturing fabrication processes through different failures. The failures can be fixed by self-repairing properties exhibited by polymeric materials, which is an advantage to sustain the damage and for prolong use of materials. This chapter briefly describes and discusses the fabrication, failures, and self-repairing of this kind of composite materials.
