Abstract
In this work, we developed a high-gain 2 x 2 phased lens array antenna with a combination of mechanical and electrical beam scanning. The square-bottom plano-convex (Sq-PC) planar lens array provides higher aperture efficiency compared to the conventional circular lens array. The combination of plano-convex (PC) lens shape and square-bottom lens extension helps to maintain higher gain during beam scanning than concave-convex (CC) lens shape. The proposed scanning lens phased array achieved boresight gain with 34.8 dBi and high-gain beam scanning ≥ 31.5 dBi towards 24° at 300 GHz.
