Abstract

A system to recognize the Arabic sign language using an instrumented glove and a machine learning method is presented. The proposed system consists of a PowerGlove that is connected through the serial port to a workstation running the support vector machine algorithm. The PowerGlove is used to provide the direct interface between the system and the human performing the sign. Support vector machine algorithm is used as a tool for sign classification.
