Abstract

Solar energy available at the earths surface chiefly depends on the received amount of solar radiation. The latter is a changeable climatic element. Atmospheric turbidity was measured at three sites in the Helwan region during the months of February through December 1967. Results showed that the atmosphere over Helwan is very turbid. This indicates that industrialization of the area has not only badly damaged the Helwan atmospheric environment, but consequently reduced the received amounts of solar radiation.
