Abstract

Heat transfer rates in the miniature heat sinks are found to be higher when compared to the conventional heat exchangers owing to the high surface-to-volume ratio. A direct air-cooling system using the compact cooling technique creates a huge demand for a wide range of engineering applications. Thermoelectric modules and thermo-pipes solutions are attracted due to their high heat transfer coefficients. Some of the important applications of microchannel heat sinks like electronic cooling, solar cooling, refrigeration and other specialized cooling, biomedical systems, space and defense, and other applications are included in the section.
