Abstract
The paper reports on a study at the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District, Marin County, California, in which a 160-tube reverse osmosis units was installed for a pilot study on application of this process to renovation of municipal wastewater. It discusses the sewage treatment plant, reverse osmosis (RO) unit, unit performance, and biological and chemical studies. Results indicate that the R. O. process, when combined with proper pretreatment of water, is very effective in removing the bacteriological and chemical contaminants.
