Abstract

Dependences of the specific heat and the magnetization on the magnetic field of a single crystal of Y0.97Gd0.03 show a strong anisotropic effect that is consistent with a basal plane helical spin structure. These effects are described within a spin-density-wave mechanism for long-range antiferromagnetic ordering.
