Abstract
Deutsche Forschungs-und Versuchsanstalt fur Luft-und Raumfahrt, Fed. Rep. Germany Sound wave propagation in the atmospheric boundary layer near the ground is affected by decrease of the wind force with altitude and by wind direction change. Equations for sound propagation are derived by subtracting Ekman solutions for the boundary layer from the equations for the combined field of wind and sound. Solutions are given for plane wave moving vertically downwards, and for a plane wave with its front inclined. (I.F.)
