Abstract

A surface renewal based analysis is presented for transient heat transfer for steady turbulent flow over a flat plate heted by a step in the wall heat generation rate. This analysis, which accounts for the wall thermal capacity, leads to predictions for the unsteady wall temperature and coefficient of heat transfer that are in good agreement with experimental data for plates with moderate thermal capacity.
