Abstract

A simplified performance analysis of coherent M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) modulation with generalized selection combining (GSC) is presented for Rayleigh fading channels. The symbol error probability (SEP) is derived in a closed-form expression. A previous result used the moment generating function approach to arrive at a rather complex result. In our derivation, we have used the traditional averaging technique to obtain a performance expression that does not require any numerical integration.
