Abstract

Dehumidification of air can be performed by absorption of moisture in hygroscopic solutions. The weak solution can be then regenerated by using solar energy. This paper deals with the performance characteristics of a solar regenerator. In such a device there is a moving interface between the solution flowing as a thin film and the air stream that flows past it, and this interface influences the rates of convective heat and mass transfer. The governing equations for the air phase using appropriate boundary conditions have been solved.
