Abstract
The treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater poses a significant environmental challenge due to complex organic pollutants that resist conventional treatment methods. Electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) have emerged as a promising approach to address this issue. This abstract provides an overview of EAOPs for treating pharmaceutical wastewater, highlighting their principles, mechanisms, and applications. By leveraging electrochemical techniques coupled with advanced oxidation mechanisms, EAOPs generate highly reactive species like hydroxyl radicals, facilitating the efficient degradation of pharmaceutical contaminants into nontoxic by-products. The versatility and scalability of EAOPs make them suitable for diverse treatment scenarios, offering a sustainable solution to the management of pharmaceutical effluents and the preservation of water quality. This overview underscores the potential of EAOPs as an innovative and effective technology for mitigating the environmental impact of pharmaceutical wastewater discharge.
