Abstract

A computational algorithm is proposed for steady oceanographic flows in which the two-dimensional shallow-water equations are coupled to a separate integration in the vertical direction. The algorithm is much more efficient than the conventional three-dimensional schemes. For a simple test model the results agree well with previous results published by Davies and Owen.
