Abstract
A simple microwave-assisted green reduction process has been used for fabricating Ag0-Ag2O-embedded nanocomposite hydrogel. The Ag0-Ag2O/nanocomposite hydrogel was applied for adsorption-coupled-photocatalytic removal of triclosan, and the excellent performance of 89% removal was achieved. The enhanced removal activity of Ag0-Ag2O/nanocomposite hydrogel could be explained by synergism effect taking place between nanocomposite hydrogel part acting as adsorbent and Ag0-Ag2O as photocatalyst. The chemical oxygen demand, effect of scavengers and reusability were also investigated.
