Abstract
This chapter explores the evolving landscape of transportation and mobility solutions, highlighting key trends such as vehicle electrification, autonomous and connected technologies, and adoption of sustainable fuels. The chapter delves into the challenges posed by urban mobility, traffic congestion, and air quality, while examining alternative propulsion methods such as hydrogen fuel cells and biofuels. Advancements in battery technologies, charging infrastructure, and second-life batteries are discussed in the context of the growing electrification of transportation. The integration of smart transportation systems, IoT applications, and blockchain technology in supply chain logistics is presented as critical drivers of efficiency and transparency. The chapter also addresses sustainable urban mobility planning, the electrification of mass transit and freight, and the role of sustainable aviation in reducing emissions. Policy, regulation, and the contributions of tech companies and start-ups are considered vital to accelerating the transition toward greener transportation solutions, ultimately laying the foundation for a more sustainable and efficient future in mobility.
