Abstract
The activity coefficient is an important thermophysical property to consider the non-ideality of solutions. It is a corrective parameter for the solution concentration. This chapter presents multicomponent models, correlation, and data used to estimate activity coefficients at different salinity values. Also, the estimated activity coefficient values from the correlations and methods are compared and assessed against the experimental data of seawater. This chapter recommends some correlations and methods based on their accuracy and operating conditions. In addition, the codes used to predict the activity coefficient of saline water are provided.
