Acoustic radiation from multi-span baffled panels

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the acoustic radiation from a multi-span baffled panel having certain types of irregularities, including intermediate torsional springs and/or displaced intermediate supports. These irregularities lead to the confinement of motion to a limited part of the structure, as evident from the mode shapes. The radiation efficiency is calculated for both ordered and disordered panels in order to measure the tendency of the panel to radiate sound. It is found that the modes of disordered panels radiate slightly more than those of the ordered ones.
