Abstract
A new compact and low-profile pattern reconfigurable antenna with four L-slots is proposed. The different pattern configurations are working at 2.3 GHz and 3.7 GHz, with a-10 dB bandwidth of 100 MHz at both bands. The average simulated peak gains are 5. 4 dB and 4 dB for configurations at 2.3 GHz and 3.7 GHz, respectively. The beams are steered to different directions using pin diodes and phase shifters. The feeding network can be reconfigured electrically using switches. The average simulated radiation efficiencies are 30% and 40% at 2.3 GHz and 3. 7 GHz, respectively. The design is built on an FR4 substrate with a size of 61.4 × 61.4 × 0. 72 mm3. This antenna is a good candidate for MIMO applications.
