Abstract

A new meter device that was designed as a senior design project, and its fictional use is discussed. It highlights the importance of the parameter β and its use in electronic biasing circuits and design. The meter provides a quick and direct measure of values of β at different conditions, and helps in developing confidence when using a curve tracer. It is extendable, easy to use, and may use other microprocessors with minor modifications of the circuitry.
