Abstract
A numerical approximation is used to present the solution of a free boundary problem in one space dimension, arising in the filtration of a fluid through a porous medium. The numerical scheme presented combines the use of finite elements and a predictor corrector method. A numerical algorithm for finding the approximate solution and results of numerical calculations are given. (A)
